15.24 lakh foreigners visited India in 2021; highest from US, followed by Bangladesh
Over 15 lakh foreigners, including 4.29 lakh US nationals and 2.4 lakh Bangladeshis, had visited India last year when the country was on an extended period of coronavirus restrictions and visa regulations, officials said. Ten countries accounted for 74.39 per cent of the total arrival of foreigners during 2021, while 25.61 per cent of the incoming foreigners were from the rest of the nations, a home ministry official said.

China has eased COVID curbs for domestic group tours organised by travel agencies, the culture and tourism ministry said on Tuesday. Tourists can make cross-province trips organised by travel agencies with proof of negative test results, and are no longer subject to an earlier rule that ban some of such trips when COVID cases emerge, the ministry said in a statement.

Kerala tourism dept looks for tie-ups with Maha operators
The Kerala Tourism Department is looking for tie-ups with tour operators in Maharashtra for boosting travel business in the state. The domestic travel to the southern state is close to the pre-Covid levels. Prior to the pandemic, it was 1.5 crore persons coming down to Kerala, it has now reached 1.3 crore. The season continues through the winters, said Suresh PK, tourism information officer, who was in the city for a business to business meet.

The United Kingdom government has given approval for three thousand visas for young professionals from India to work in the country each year. With an aim to further streamline and strengthen the tourist permit regime, the ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) has issued a draft notification to supersede the All India Tourist Vehicle (Authorisation or Permit) Rules, 2021. According to an official statement, the rules notified in 2021 provided a significant boost to the tourism sector in India by streamlining and simplifying the permit regime for tourist vehicles.

First international cruise arrives in Goa
First International cruise ship 'Viking Mars' on Wednesday arrived in the coastal state of Goa with around 650 passengers and other crew members.
